  カリフォルニアの州法では、横断歩道近辺に歩行者がいる場合、車は停止しなければならない。 高級車は一般的な車の3倍、この法規を破り、歩行者を無視する傾向が強かった。 中でもプリウスのドライバーは約1/3が停止せず、車種の中では最悪だった。 実験を行ったピフ氏は、「地球に優しい車に乗っていることで、非倫理的な行動をしても許される、という特権階級意識を持つため」と分析している。"
